What does it take?

Sometimes you want something just because there is a possibility that you cannot have it. Other times you are reluctant to have something simply because it came too easy.

Tell me, would it make happiness a bit too cheap if we can all want the things we have? Is happiness meant to come with a price? Does happiness only come with hard work and effort? Does happiness only come with pain? Newton defined gravity with his law of motion stating “Every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction.” Is happiness bluntly impossible without the presence of its opposition?

It seems almost as if happiness is not in our nature that we must work so damn hard to be happy. Or perhaps, one too many times we have taken circumstance for granted as we become increasingly desensitised to happiness. World Vision reports that every three seconds a child dies somewhere in the world. Here in Melbourne – where it has been voted the most liveable city in the world this year by the Economist Intelligence Unit – it is simply a mundane challenge to appreciate its clean water, multi-cultural and democratic aspects. Yet, I ensure you we Melbournians have all experienced thirst, hunger and physical pain to some extent.

Is happiness a matter of approach?

I think, therefore reality!

I think therefore I am. – Renee Descartes

A recent study has found reality to be a product of our own creation. Here is the evidence I have came to grasp. Light hits the eye as it sends neuron signals to the brain. The brain processes the data, and then sends the interpreted neuron signals back to the eye as visual information. Latest discovery is that there a significant increase in the neuron signals that the brain sends back to the eye.

If our brain is inserting additional information to reality, how do we distinguish what is real from what is not?

What are the benefits of knowing what is real? Haven’t we made it till now? Perhaps there is no necessity in finding the whole truth; only a dose of reality is all we need to make it through life.

Can I make the choice?

Is it important to have someone that we share every aspect of our lives with? At times, do we so desperately need to be revolved around? At times, do we so desperately need to pretend there is something more in life that is worth our attention span?

When it is gone, does the emptiness scar? When it is there, does the world seem like a better place to live?

Tell me, is it greed that we all hang onto? There is a pie, we all want a bite. Is this rational, or is it emotional?

I want him to be there, I miss him if he is not. Should I confront him with the feelings that I have? Or are they feelings at all? Sometimes I pretend to be someone else to make the decisions that I need to make. And if I am someone else, I will confront. Trouble is I am not, thus I own myself a guaranteed end. I can be sure he feels the same, but I can’t be sure we will work. But you will never know until you try.
I guess I fear to be broken apart once again. What if I never pick myself up again?

What is it?

Sometimes I ask myself, what is it like? –
But what is what like? Life? Aren’t I in middle of it? Why don’t I know? Why do I keep seeking? What am I seeking?

Plato once said one is either running towards something or running away from something? In this case, am I running away or running towards? Is there something in life that I so desperately want? Or is there something in life that I so desperately need to get away from?

What is the ultimate end? Where to does it all lead?

What is life? We all live in it, yet different for every single one of us. There is no one being out there who precisely shares your values to the exactness of the fine lines in the imprints on your finger tips. But what is it about the lives we live that maintains life to be what it is? If one was to pull apart a chair, at what point does it stop being a chair? What is it about life that makes life ‘life’?

Is it choice? Is it freedom? Is it restriction? Is it the judgments we live within?

Is there always a reason?

He has a girlfriend.
I once needed him like air is to life. What part of him does it belong to me, now? Who am I to have a say? He had every right. We have gone our separate ways. Why haven’t I let go? How did he let go?

How does it work? Why didn’t it work?

If things were different, could it have worked? Or were we fated to part?

How do we leave a piece of memory out? How does a feeling, a sound, stay on for so long?

As I sat outside the library, all I wanted to do was numb it out. Indulge into it, like never before. Maybe I never truly wanted to let go. Let it be tamed and domesticated as Gramsci would put it.
Does it work?

Is it programed?

In ‘The Matrix,’ it was said that love is merely a word justifying the relationship between two subjects, a connection that links two together. Machines too ‘feel’ love; it is indeed a “link”. At one stage one character – a program – asked Neo, “What would you give to hold onto that connection?” “Anything,” Neo answered. Is love a program? As much as we know how it influences the choices we make in life, is it the rules of a game we like to play? Smith declared that funny how the patterns of love follow the patterns of insanity.

However, the love that was demonstrated in ‘The Matrix’ leads us to think it is somewhat a force that results one to give up anything and everything in the world. What I want to know is: is it? Would you die in pain for the one you love, giving up on every pride you once had? Or do most of us give up on the search in finding love instead? Surely, if the link hasn’t been found then no sacrifices need to be met. Yet our society managed to link the word ‘incomplete’ to the image of a single lad. Here is a thought: do we purposefully make life more difficult for ourselves?

If it is ‘a link’, once we are ‘clicked’ in, is it all fated to be? That is to say like petal falling to the ground. do we ever ‘click’ out? Is it possible to delete a program? In our world today, programs are deleted, upgraded, abandoned on daily bases. In the intellectual world of gods and oracles, are we played like puppets on a string [if not, excuse my offence] whilst the Forms from Plato’s theory are constantly added, altered and abolished?
